Discovering the Mana of the Marquesas Islands

Today, I’m taking you to the ends of the earth, to the Land of Men. Here, far from everything, you feel small in the face of raw and untamed nature. The isolation, the silence, the authenticity… The Marquesas have a unique soul that you can feel as soon as you arrive. It’s a timeless journey, where Polynesian traditions are more alive than ever.

What to do in the Marquesas?

The Marquesas are a perfect blend of culture, adventure, and breathtaking landscapes.. Here, there are no turquoise lagoons or overwater bungalows, but there are striking mountains, lush valleys, and a deep blue sea.

Diving and Water Sports Do you dream of exploring exceptional underwater landscapes? In Hiva Oa, you can swim with manta rays and hammerhead sharks. Guaranteed thrills!

Hiking: If you love walking, you’re in for a treat! Between hidden waterfalls (like Vaipo in Nuku Hiva) and spectacular panoramas in Hanavave (hello Fatu Hiva!), the Marquesas are the perfect playground for hikers.

Meeting the Locals: Here, the welcome is warm and genuine. Take the time to chat with the artisans in the remote villages, and you’ll leave with memories full of your heart.

Good to know:

The Marquesas are a bit off… literally! They are 30 minutes ahead of Tahiti.

Here, no luxury hotels, but charming guesthouses. Be sure to book in advance!

Don’t forget your mosquito repellent, the « nonos » (small but tough gnats) might make an appearance.

Marquesian art (sculpture, tapa, tattoos) is unique in the world. A great reason to splurge on a handmade piece!
