Travelling to the islands of Polynesia: how do I book a ticket?

Editorial: Tevaitea CERCO

Ready for adventure? Grab your ticket and come explore our islands!

In Polynesia, all of our islands are grouped in five archipelagos in the Pacific Ocean with their tinkling lagoons, ethereal beaches, friendly inhabitants and rich culture. But wait, it gets better! The starting point of that journey is Tahiti aka the largest island of the Society archipelago. Whether you travel by plane, helicopter or boat, each means of transport offers a unique experience to discover these wonderful destinations

Head in the clouds: come explore our tropical paradise

Wanna fly between the isles? The best choice is the airplane! The Tahiti-Faa’a airport, near Papeete, is the connection center of all Polynesian islands. Local airlines Air Tahiti and Air Moana offer regular flights to nearby isles such as Bora Bora and Maupiti, as well as to the other archipelagos. Air Tahiti serves all 48 island airports and is the only way to reach Maupiti; Air Tahiti Nui is the international carrier and flies no domestic route

When booking your ticket at the airport counter, you’ll need to book a trip on Air Tahiti or Air Moana in the class of your choice, or take Air Tahiti’s multi-island Air Pass if you are hopping between several islands and make sure to respect the weight limits in the instructions when checking your luggage in

Celestial Odyssey: roam the sky by helicopter

Looking for a thrilling experience? Nothing more sensational than a helicopter ride over the islands. Tahiti Nui Helicopters has specifically designed tours made for you to admire the whole postcard-worthy landscapes of the Society archipelago in the air. On the Tahiti Nui Helicopters website, you can select your departure and arrival destinations, then simulate the price of your trip before confirming your order. Now imagine yourself flying over Moorea or Huahine, with their lush green mountains and crystal-clear lagoons… you’re in for a treat! Voguing in the deep: set sail for adventure

Do you prefer to go with the flow? The boat is the optimal option for you! The Apetahi Express and Vaeara’i companies and shuttles will take you to visit the neighboring Society islands in complete serenity. With Apetahi Express, you can book your trip at the ticket office in the port of Papeete or on their website. All you gotta do is add your departure and return dates, then take the inter-island pass. You’re also allowed to bring your car or bike on board, as long as you include it in your cart.

With Vaeara’i, your trip can be booked at the ticket office in Papeete or Moorea, or directly on their website. Afterwards, you can consult the different fares depending on your itinerary and vehicle size. The gentle ripples of the waves will lull you along the way while you take your time in the boat to admire the open sea, the coastal sceneries and, if you’re lucky, a few whales and dolphins

Pleased by the options? Then all you gotta do is pack your bags, hop in and above all, don’t forget your sunscreen
